EU releases future development strategy for the Internet of Things
2019-01-15 11:24:09

Recently, in the form of policy documents, the European Commission has released the EU's “digital dividend” utilization and future Internet of Things development strategy.

The EU requires member states to realize the conversion from analog TV to digital TV since 2012, and release the resulting “digital dividend” frequency band to stimulate the development of wireless services. The specific scheme is to use the 790MHz~862MHz sub-band for wireless services such as 3G and 4G mobile phone video access and downloading. By the end of 2013, the EU will achieve high-speed broadband coverage and promote cross-border e-commerce development and the formation of a single wireless market in the EU. .

The EU said that to maximize the use of this opportunity, Europe must adopt a coordinated strategy to move forward. The European Commission estimates that if the use of the "digital dividend" band in the EU is unified before 2015, the next 15 years will bring about 20 billion to 50 billion euros in economic benefits to the EU.

At present, in the process of converting TV broadcasting services from analog to digital, the pace of each country is not consistent. The digital conversion of television has been achieved in Finland, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Flemish region of Belgium. Austria, Denmark, Malta, Slovenia and Spain will achieve this goal in 2010. Only Ireland and Poland in other member states are slow.

The Internet of Things strategy proposes that Europe should lead the world in the development of Internet-based intelligent infrastructure. In addition to investing 400 million euros through the ICT R&D program and launching more than 90 R&D projects to improve the level of network intelligence, the European Commission will also be in 2011~ In 2013, an additional 200 million euros will be added each year to further strengthen research and development, and at the same time, 300 million euros will be earmarked to support the construction of short-term projects related to public and private cooperation related to the Internet of Things.
